As a coach at Lifeguard, I help people get moving both literally and figuratively. During my period as a top-level athlete, I missed good coaching. At the same time, this period also brought a backpack full of insights and personal growth. I would like to use that for others. Seeing people grow, precisely from their own answers. I derive satisfaction from the fact that I can truly mean something in someone’s life. And every coachee keeps me sharp again: coaching is a continuous process in which I myself am also constantly learning.

I like to get moving in nature on my bike, running, walking, and playing. This, combined with slowing down in various forms such as mindfulness, yoga, and the sauna, contributes to my energy balance, and in this way I continue to stay in control.

Methodologies

  • Mindfulness, MBSR
  • RET/5G-model

Working style

My style is characterized by creating a safe space. A coachee may get the feeling that everything can be said, without judgment. Only then does space arise for genuine self-reflection and growth. Sometimes simply being heard and acknowledged is already healing. It often forms the beginning of change.

From safety, influence also arises: the coachee’s awareness that he or she has choices and can therefore take ownership. By positioning myself empathetically, allowing space for self-exploration, and by asking in-depth, sometimes confronting questions, I help the coachee come closer to the core. This requires me as a coach to be present, without judgment, with attention and attuned to what is needed at that moment.
